Meeting on March 21st, 2010

The Atsugi-Zama Toastmasters club held another great meeting on March 21st, 2010. 14 club members and 2 guests participated in this meeting.

Summary of the meeting
  • TM Maruyama opened the meeting with the Joke Master Session;
  • TM Sakuragi led the Table Topics Session;
  • Four members gave prepared speeches:
    • TM Kumagai told us about the (positive!) reasons why she will not be able to attend club meetings for a while, in her "Sayonara-speech" (Project #3, CC Manual);
    • TM Takayanagi gave a speech, titled "Middle-aged women, be ambitious!" (Project #3, The Entertaining Speaker Advanced Manual), about her experience in starting her new job, with lots of humour and an encouraging message for middle-aged women;
    • TM Perkins introduced the "Courtiard balcony scene from 'Romeo and Juliet'" (Project #4, Interpretive Reading Advanced Manual) with a very emotional voice;
    • TM Wada gave interesting tips on how to complain while avoiding confrontation, and illustrated those tips with a role play, in his speech "Asserting yourself effectively in a non-confrontational way" (Project #5, Interpersonal Communication Advanced Manual);
  • Constructive speech evaluations were given by the General Evaluator (TM Horioka) and four Evaluators (resp., TM Asano, TM Fukuda, TM Tateishi, and TM Sakuragi).

  • Best Performance: TM Sakuragi (Evaluator)
  • Best Table Topics Speaker: TM Tateishi
  • Best Prepared Speaker: TM Wada
  • Best Evaluator: TM Asano (evaluating TM Kumagai)
