Meeting on May 2nd, 2010

The Atsugi-Zama Toastmasters club held another great meeting on May 2nd, 2010. 13 club members and 4 guests attended the meeting.



Word of the day

Summary of the meeting
  • We held a speaker coaching session, an extra educational session before the regular meeting to coach some members and help them give impromptu speeches;
  • TM Senda opened the meeting with the Joke Master Session;
  • TM Tateishi led the Table Topics Session;
  • Four members gave prepared speeches:
    • TM Ofori demonstrated how organizations should communicate after a crisis, in his speech titled "TOYOTA: Looking Forward with a Mirror to the Past" (Project #5, Public Relations Manual);
    • TM Sakuragi delivered an inspiring, long folk tale titled "Toshisyun" (Project #1, Storytelling Manual);
    • TM Maruyama told also a very lively story titled "Kibun" (Project #5, Storytelling Manual);
    • TM Lenglet told humorous stories about his (lack of) navigation skills in his speech titled "Lost" (Project #4, CC Manual);
  • Constructive speech evaluations were given by the General Evaluator (TM Perkins) and four Evaluators (resp., TM Higuchi, TM Tateishi, TM Asano, and TM Yoshikawa).
Awards
  • Best Table Topics Speaker: TM Higuchi
  • Best Prepared Speaker: TM Ofori and TM Maruyama (a draw)
  • Best Evaluator: TM Higuchi (evaluating TM Ofori) and TM Yoshikawa (evaluating TM Lenglet) (also a draw)
  • Best Performance (awarded by the General Evaluator): TM Komura, Toastmaster of the Day, for conducting the meeting very smoothly
